VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Barry University men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season Monday, falling to No. 8 Lander, 5-2, in the third match of its Spring Break trip.
The second-ranked Buccaneers used a different lineup, and failed to pick up a doubles point. Barry could not secure the necessary five wins in singles to remain unbeaten.

DOUBLES:
- Lander's David Korsten and Alex Regner beat Pierre Montrieul and Carlos Gomez, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles.
- Philippe Courtreau and Gabriel Courteau gave the Bearcats a 2-0 lead with an 8-4 win over Blake Bayldon and Filip Zupancic at No. 2 pairs.
- Eirik Groner and Ozan Cildir completed the doubles sweep for Lander with an 8-6 win over Fernando Tous and Vivien Versier at the No. 3 position.
SINGLES:
- Montrieul picked up the Buccaneers' first point when Korsten retired with Barry's No. 1 singles player leading 3-0 in the first set.
- Cildir beat Zupancic, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 4 to make it 4-2.
- Versier defeated Cronje, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 for the Bucs second point.
- Croner, the 33rd-ranked singles player in the country, handed Daniel Ventura a 6-3, 6-4 setback at No. 2 to seal the win.
- Barry's Flavio Matteoli was leading Gabriel Balestero, 7-6 (7-3), 2-0, at No. 5 singles when the match was decided.
- Tous traded sets with Tommaso Rossin, winning 6-1 and losing 6-3, before he trailed, 3-2, in the third set at No. 6 singles when the match ended.
NOTEWORTHY:
- It was the first time this season the Buccaneers were swept in doubles.
- Barry is 3-4 at No. 1 doubles.Â
- Ventura was playing his second ranked opponent on the trip.
- Bayldon and Zupancic were paired together for the first time this season.
