MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's baseball team swatted the Yellow Jackets of American International College 10-6 on Tuesday night at Feinbloom Field.

Game 1

  • B1: Paul Salata drove in Andrew Rapoza and Justin Lamazares with a single. Salata scored ahead of Michael Escarra's double for a 3-0 lead. | Barry 3, AIC 0
  • T2: The first three batters for the Yellowjackets reached base. Josh Aviles beat out a double-play ball to score one run and Matt Costanza drove in a pair with a single through the left side. | Barry 3, AIC 3
  • B2: Rapoza scored again on a single by Jonathan Quintana as the Bucs took the lead for good. | Barry 4, AIC 3
  • B5: Alexis Monge-Rodriguez had an RBI double to knock in Reuben Pino. | Barry 5, AIC 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Both teams utilized a split game pitching format, but AIC starter Joe Pepe (0-1) still took the loss. in 2.0 innings of work, he allowed four runs on six hits and a walk. 
  • Armando Gonzalez (1-2) picked up the win in relief of Pablo Arevalo. Gonzalez went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and struck out three.
  • Rapoza wsa 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs and two RBI. 
  • Quintana and Monge-Rodriguez also had three hits and drove in two.
  •  Costanza was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI for AIC.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Panthers of Adelphi University at Feinbloom Field at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
