Softball Comes Up Big With 8-7 Win Over Lynn

Back and fourth action entire game, but Bucs prevail

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's softball team opened the conference series against Lynn with a big 8-7 win Friday night on Buccaneer Field.

SUMMARY:

  • T1: Lynn jumped on the board early in the first inning with two runners walked in with bases loaded. Lynn 2 | Barry 0
  • B1: Madison VonHagel belted out a two-run homer over the left field wall to tie the game. Barry 2 | Lynn 2
  • B2: Sam Busekrus singled up the middle in the second, scoring Peyton Rawls from third to take the one-run lead. Barry 3 | Lynn 2
  • B3: Alayna Gallagher reached on a fielding error by the shortstop, and Brittany Phillips was able to score to increase Barry's lead to two. Barry 4 | Lynn 2
  • T4: Lynn fired back in the fourth with four runs to take the two run lead. Victoria Rios and Karolina Flores each had doubles for a combined three RBI. Lynn 6 | Barry 5
  • B5: Barry battled back in the fifth inning with back to back homers to tie the game. Kristina Osorio and Rawls each cranked shots over the center field wall. Barry 6 | Lynn 6
  • T6: Flores regained the lead for the Knights in the sixth with a home run to left field, taking the one-run lead. Lynn 7 | Barry 6
  • B6: VonHagel singled to center field scoring Gallagher and Lynsey Duncan to take the lead back for the final time, and this time they kept it to the end. Barry 8 | Lynn 7

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Christie Falcon (2-4) picked up her second win of the season for the Bucs, allowing just one hit and one run.
  • Kayla Sheffield (2-3) was dealt the loss for Lynn in the opening game, giving up three hits and two runs to the Bucs.
  • VonHagel went 3-4 on the night with two hits, one being a home run, and four RBI.
  • Rawls walked twice and went two for two at the plate with a home run.
  • Phillips and Gallagher each went 2-4, scoring a combined three runs.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry continues the series Saturday against the Knights on Buccaneer Field at 1 and 3 p.m.
