DELAND, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 2-ranked women's tennis team sketched out a shutout at Stetson.
A quality Division I opponent that already had solid wins under its belt, beating Division II No. 1 Lynn and Power Five Iowa State, Stetson was a game test for the Buccaneers. But Barry passed with flying colors in a match that was stopped once the Bucs had secured the necessary result, according to Division I scoring rules.
Barry won 4-0 to keep its unbeaten record in tact.
"It was a big challenge," Barry coach Avi Kigel. "We had to adjust to the new rules in Division I, with the scoring and no warmup. I thought we came out very aggressive. Nothing to take away from Stetson, they fought very hard. Today, we were just the better team."
