MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry baseball opened up their Sunshine State Conference series with a 9-2 loss to #4 Florida Southern Friday night on Feinbloom Field.

- T2: The Mocs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second. Jacob Teter knocked in Hayden Marze with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Burgess. | FSC 2, Barry 0
- B2: The Bucs knotted the game 2-2 on a two-run homer by Ryan Baldwin. | Barry 2, FSC 2
- T3: Florida Southern loaded the bases off Buccaneer starter Isreal Cordero (0-1) with no outs in the third. Pablo Arevalo came and and got back-to-back strike outs of Teter and Vaun Brown. But Dylan Costa laced a bases-clearing double into center field to put FSC on top. Costa later scored on a single by Burgess. | FSC 6, Barry 2
- T6: Omar Villaman knocked in Pablo Cabrera with a single. | FSC 7, Barry 2
- T7: Teter reached on an error and scored on a single by Costa. | FSC 8, Barry 2
- T8: Marze was hit by a pitch by Arevalo, stole second and third and scored on an error. | FSC 9, Barry 2
NOTEWORTHY:
- Cordero took the loss for the Bucs. He allowed five runs on four hits and three walks in two innings. Arevalo went six innings for the Bucs, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits. He struck out eight but did not walk a batter.
- Logan Browning (3-0) went seven innings to get the win for the Mocs. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out eight.
- The Mocs pitchers combined to strike out 13.
- Costa was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Marze was 2-for-2 and was hit by pitch three times.
- Baldwin led the Bucs, going 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI. Reuben Pino and Andrew Rapoza had the other two hits for Barry.
