Baseball Drops Rubber Game To Blazers in 10 innings

Bucs fall to 3-6 on the season

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Barry Buccaneers fell 6-5 in 10 innings to the Valdosta State Blazers in the rubber game of their three-game series on Sunday at Billy Grant Field.

  • B3: Elias Macias scored on a a sacrifice fly by Dalton Murray to break open the scoring. | VSU 1, Barry 0
  • B7: DJ King drilled a two-run homer to pad the Blazers' lead. | VSU 3, Barry 0
  • T9: The Bucs tied the game in the ninth inning when Alexis Monge-Rodriguez singled to right field with the bases loaded and VSU's BJ White misplayed the ball allowing all three runners to score. | Barry 3, VSU 3
  • T10: Paul Salata drove in Justin Lamazares and Ryan Baldwin with a single through the right side to give the Bucs a lead. | Barry 5, VSU 3
  • B10: Murray, King and Nick Koslowski opened the 10th with three straight singles to score one run. After a successful bunt, Matt Abramson laced a double to center field to win the game for VSU. | VSU 6, Barry 5

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Coper Cain (1-0) got the final two outs in the 10th to get the win. 
  • Daniel Broeseker (0-1) was tagged with the loss, after allowing three runs on four hits to five batters in the 10th. 
  • Salata went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Baldwin scored twice for the Bucs.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Florida Southern Moccasins next weekend in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams.
