MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's softball team won both games in the doubleheader Sunday against Pittsburg State on Buccaneer Field. Bucs improve their record to 3-7.

Game 1
- T1:Kristen VanHoosen homered to left center, scoring three RBI in the first. Myka Hayward followed with another home run to increase the Gorilla's lead to four. Pitt 4 | Barry 0
- B1: Same Busekrus scored on a passed ball to put the Bucs on the board. Anieliese Palmeiro singled to right field, scoring Madison VonHagel to cut Pitt's lead to two. Pitt 4 | Barry 2
- B3: VonHagel brought the Bucs within one run of Gorillas in the third inning with a homer to left field. Pitt 4 | Barry 3
- B5: Palmeiro homered in the fifth inning, scoring two RBI to take the one-run lead for the Buccaneers. The Bucs would hold off the Gorillas in the final two innings to come away with the win in game one. Barry 5 | Pitt 4

- T1: Defensive errors from the Buccaneers allowed for the Gorillas to score two runs in the first. Pitt 2 | Barry 0
- B1: The Bucs bounced back to score four in the bottom of the first inning to take the two run lead. Heads up base running by Busekrus allowed her to steal home to put the Bucs on the board. Kristina Osorio and VonHagel each had doubles, combining for three RBI. Barry 4 | Pitt 2
- T3: Kaity Kukowski homered in the third to take the lead away from the Bucs, scoring three RBI. Pitt 5 | Barry 4
- B5: Geneva Santos singled to the pitcher, bringing in Alayna Gallagher from third to tie the game. Barry 5 | Pitt 5
- B8: Osorio scored the walk-off run in the eighth inning after an infield error by the Gorilla defense to grab the win in game two. Barry 6 | Pitt 5
NOTEWORTHY:
- Sofia Dominguez (1-0) won game for the Bucs, after giving up four runs and just four hits.
- Bree Cornett (2-4) took the loss for the Gorillas in game one, conceding nine hits and five runs.
- Christie Falcon (1-3) picked up the second win for the Bucs, allowing just four hits.
- Cornett (2-5) came up short in the second game as well, allowing seven hits and five runs.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers travel to West Palm Beach to take on Palm Beach Atlantic in the team's first conference series of the season.
