Broeseker picks up second save

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers split a baseball doubleheader with the St. Thomas Bobcats on Saturday at Feinbloom Field. The Bucs fell 18-9 in game one, but bounced back to take the nightcap 7-5.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Danger Guevara (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Bobcats in game one. In 1.1 innings, he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks.  
  • Jonathan Hernandez (0-2) took the loss for the Bucs, giving up five runs on five hits in an inning of work.
  • In game two, Anthony Boix got the win with 1.1 innings of relief work. He did not allow a hit or a walk, but did hit two batters. Daniel Broeseker worked a scoreless ninth, allowing two hits and striking out two for his second save.
  •  Rene Arauz (1-1) took the loss for St.Thomas. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks in four innings.
  • Baldwin led the Bucs at the plate, going 4-for-7 with a double, two homers, five runs and five RBI in the twin bill. Rapoza and Justin Lamazares also had four hits.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs travel to Billy Grant Field in Valdosta, Ga., to face off with the Valdosta State Blazers next weekend.
