MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers left one slip away against No.4-ranked Union University on Friday night inside the Health & Sports Center. Union came away with a 69-62 win as both teams kicked-off their respective seasons at the 2018 SSC/GSC crossover in Miami Shores.Â

"There were a lot of bright spots," Bucs assistant coach Brianna Finch said. "I thought the first half was exceptional. The pace was really fast for both teams. We need to be able to play at that pace. To sustain that pace against the number two team in the country, we just ran out of firepower there towards the end."

NOTEWORTHY:
- Tampa led Barry with 21 points, five rebounds and two assists going 7/12 from the field and 6/8 from the free-throw line.
- The Buccaneer bench out-scored Union's 23-14.Â
- Union took advantage of 20 Barry turnovers and converted them into 20 points.
