MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers bounced back with a 74-66 win over the Delta State Lady Statesmen in the South Region Crossover at Cesar Odio Court on Saturday after a huge first quarter.

SUMMARY:
- 1Q - The Bucs jumped out to a huge lead in the first quarter. The Buc went out to a 9-0 lead after the first 3:30, thanks to six points by Nichel Tampa. Though DSU cut the lead to 15-8, but a three-pointer by Emma Hergot and a layup by Juhnae Richardson in the last minute pushed the lead back out to 12 points. The Bucs' defense was outstanding, holding DSU to just 16.7 percent shooting in the frame. | Barry 20, Delta State 8
- 2Q - The second quarter was more even, though the Bucs managed to tack another point onto the lead by the intermission. The Bucs only managed to out-score the Lady Statesmen 24-23 despite out-shooting them 60 percent to 45 percent from the floor. - 3Q - The Bucs increased the lead incrementally again, 17-14, in the third quarter. The Bucs fixed the third quarter turnover bug, making just one in the period. Carly Sanders led the Bucs with six points, while Ida Andersson added five. | Barry 61, Delta State, 45
- 4Q - The Statesmen finally put together a good quarter in the fourth, the opposite of their game against Nova Southeastern last night when they were out-scored 27-10 in the fourth after leading the whole game. Despite six points from Tampa, the Bucs managed only 13 points. Still, DSU never got closer than 11 points in the period. | Barry 74, Delta State 66
NOTEWORTHY:
- Tampa led four players in double figures for the Bucs with a game-high 19 points. She added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Andersson had 16 points and team-high eight rebounds. Richardson added 14 points off the bench on 4-of-6 three-point shooting. Hergot had 10 points.
- Quantesha Patterson led the Statesmen with 18 points and Zyaire Ewing had 13.
