SUMMARY:

  • 55:31 - After a scoreless first half that saw Spring Hill keeper Barou Ndaw make several spectacular saves, the Bucs finally broke through in the 56th minute. Lorenzo Cerrai sent the ball out wide to Flavio Colasanti and proceeded into the box where he got the ball back and ripped the shot past Ndaw for the ice-breaker.
  • 75:38 - The Badgers, who came in averaging 3.06 goals per game, knotted it up in the 76th minute. Tilman Schober shipped a cross in from the right wing and Donte Oliver collected it in the middle of the box unmarked and scored the equalizer.
  • 81:01 - In the 82nd minute, the Bucs scored the first of three unanswered goals. Lucas Russo sent a long pass up the middle and Stephen Kosmala, who has pushed forward for an earlier corner kick, got the ball in the middle of the box and ripped the game-winner past Ndaw.
  • 82:45 - In the 83rd minute, Cerrai returned the favor to Colasanti and he sent a pass out to the left side of the box. Colasanti collected the ball, touched it past the back and beat Ndaw.
  • 83:55 - In the 84th minute, Francisco Aguirre took a pass from Luca de Biase and floated along the baseline. He bent his shot past Ndaw, off the far post and into the goal.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The 4-1 result equaled the Bucs' best offensive showing in the NCAA Tournament. They defeated Christian Brothers 4-0 on Nov. 11, 2000.
  • The three goals in 2:45 are three of the fastest goals the Bucs have ever scored and the fastest in the post season.
  • Ndaw made 10 saves, but conceded four goals to take the loss.
  • Marco Sordi had five saves against one goal to earn his 10th win.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs advance to the South Region Championship where they will face a familiar foe, the Lynn Fighting Knights. The Knights got past the top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in penalty kicks on Saturday. The game will be by the top remaining seed in the Southeast Region on Friday, Nov. 16.
