Men's Soccer Shuts Down Mocs

The Buccaneers held the Moccasins scoreless on their way to a 3-0 victory

LAKELAND, Fla. -- BarryU's men's soccer team came up big on the road with a 3-0 at Florida Southern to finish the season second in the Sunshine State Conference. The contest was Barry's most dominant over a conference opponent thus far and an excellent stepping stone to end the regular season and head into the SSC Tournament next week.

SUMMARY:

  • 5:30 - Just a few minutes into the game and Marco Sordi already made his third save of the contest when he corralled a Moc header off of a corner kick.
  • 15:28 - Jack Parker placed a shot on goal that was blocked by a Florida Southern defender.
  • 21:10 - Parker once again get a shot on goal off a pass from Aday Gonzalez and was able to convert for Barry's first goal of the evening.
  • 34: 38 - Toby Fura is able to score a solo goal off of a turnover to take a 2-0 advantage.
  • 43:38 - Aday Gonzalez sets up another one of his teammates when he passed the ball inside onto Francisco Greco's foot for the Buc's third goal of the evening.
  • 79:41- Sordi made his seventh and final save of the season when he swallows up a shot from Florida Southern's Eneko Lasheras.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Parker and Fura's goals were both the first of their respective seasons. 
  • Sordi's seven saves were the third-most he has had in a conference game this year and the clean sheet was his fourth in conference play.
  • Gonzalez's two assists contributed to his now team-leading seven-assist total, which is tied for second in the conference.

ON THE HORIZON:

Next for the Bucs will be the SSC tournament semi-final on Thursday, Nov. 1, when they will play the winner of the quarterfinal match-up between Lynn and Florida Southern.
