Men's Soccer Takes On Arch-Rival Lynn

Bucs travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium for showdown

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—It's that week again, when the Barry Buccaneers and the Lynn Fighting Knights renew their men's soccer rivalry. The two teams get together at Lynn's Bobby Dodd Stadium tonight at 6:00 pm in Sunshine State Conference action.

The Bucs, at 4-1-1 in the conference, sit just half a game behind Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Southern, and Lynn, who are all tied at 5-1 in the league. Barry moved into the United Soccer Coaches poll this week, sitting at number 22. The Knights, tied for first in the league, at 11th in the poll. This is the first time both teams have entered the contest ranked since Oct. 4, 2016 when barry was ranked 11th and Lynn came in ranked 15th. Barry won that matchup 3-0 in Boca Raton.

The Bucs are coming in off two one-goal wins last week, snapping Nova Southeastern's eight-game winning streak 2-1 and besting Tampa 4-3 in overtime. The Knights also had a pair of one-goal triumphs. They handed Palm Beach Atlantic their first loss 1-0, then beat Saint Leo 2-1, snapping Lynn's five-game shutout streak.

Flavio Colasanti, who leads the Bucs with seven goals and 15 points, has scored in six straight games. It's the most consecutive games with a goal since Mark Anderson scored in seven straight games in 2011. Francisco Greco, who is second with four goals, has three overtime game-winners this year. The Bucs' defense took a hit last week, allowing four goals in the two games and now has a 1.14 goals against average in 11 games. Marco Sordi has a 1.15 goals against average, good for sixth in the league. His 80.3 save percentage is second and he's tied for first with four shutouts.

Shay Brennan leads a very balanced Lynn attack with four goals, but 12 players have found the back of the net for the Knights this year, seven of them more than once. The Knights lead the league allowing just six goals behind keeper Robert Brazzichetto. Brazzichetto is second in the league with a 0.68 goals against average, but his save percentage of 60 percent is just 11th in the conference.
