Women's Basketball Spears Sailfish 72-58

Palmer posts 10th double-double of the season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Barry University's women's basketball team defeated the Sailfish from Palm Beach Atlantic, 72-58, Wednesday night at Rubin Arena. 

Barry trailed the entire first half, but came back in the third quarter to outscore PBA 22-6. The Bucs maintained a comfortable lead in the fourth to seal the victory on the road.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Barry trailed the host Sailfish by two after the first quarter. Hannah Grim of PBA posted nine points for the Sailfish, while Kiara Palmer put up four points for the Bucs. | PBA 16, Barry 14
  • 2Q - The Buccaneers struggled in the second quarter, only shooting 2-12 from field-goal range, and hitting 3-9 at the line. | PBA 32, Barry 22
  • 3Q - The Bucs found their rhythm in the third quarter, outscoring the fish 22-6. PBA was 2-18 from field-goal range, while Barry was fifty percent from three-point range and sunk 5-6 free-throws. | Barry 44, PBA 38
  • 4Q - Barry's Palmer and Stephanie Granada came up big for the Bucs in the fourth; Palmer scoring 13 points and Granada with nine. The Bucs were 94.4 percent from the free-throw line, sinking 17 out of 18 attempts. Barry maintained a strong enough lead to hold off the Sailfish and grab the win. | Barry 72, PBA 58 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Palmer scored 23 points, and picked up her 10th double-double of the season for the Bucs.
  • Granada shot 50 percent from field-goal range and made 5 of her 7 free-throws.. 
  • Grim had 21 points and two steals for the Sailfish, playing a big part in PBA's first half lead.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs travel to Lakeland, Fla. this Saturday to take on the Mocs of Florida Southern, at 5:30 pm in Jenkins Field House.
