Men's Basketball Plays at Embry-Riddle Saturday

Daytona Beach has been Century City for Buccaneers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's men's basketball team has played some of its best games in Daytona Beach over the last couple years. Saturday, the 10th-ranked Buccaneers will make a return trip for a 6 p.m. Sunshine State Conference game at Embry-Riddle's ICI Center.

The Bucs (11-2, 7-1 SSC) have never lost to the Eagles (7-9, 1-7). Barry owns a 7-0 record in the series. Saturday marks the first official SSC game against ERAU, who became a full member of the league this season.

In three meetings with the Eagles in Daytona Beach, Barry has scored 100 or more points in every game. In 2016, the Bucs won 112-84 in one of their best shooting performances ever, following a 64 percent field goal performance. Barry beat the Eagles 120-100 at home that season. Last season, the Buccaneers beat ERAU, 113-102, in the ICI Center.

Dating back to a 1990 contest when the Eagles competed in the NAIA, Barry has averaged 108.3 points in Daytona Beach.

The Eagles, however, are coming off their first conference victory after beating a sound Nova Southeastern team, 92-81, on Wednesday. Rudy Bibb-Boyd averages 18.9 points for the Eagles. Ognjen Miljkovic is averaging 17.2 points and 6.8 rebounds. Nashad Mackey is scoring 15.6 points and grabbing a league-leading 11.5 rebounds per game. Joshua Hawkins (12.2 ppg, 7.1 reb) and Luka Majstorovic (10.3 ppg, 6.6 reb) are also productive players.

ERAU is scoring 85.6 points per game, while giving up 84.4. The Eagles are shooting 46 percent.

Barry is coming off one of its best collective efforts of the season in Wednesday's 22-point win over Florida Southern. Six players scored in double figures, including David Moya, who started his first game at point guard. He also had eight assists and three steals in 30 minutes. Daniel Mortensen recorded his team-leading third double-double of the season. Evan Walshe reached double figures for the first time this season.

The Bucs lead the league in scoring margin at just under 16 points per game. They're also shooting a league-best 40.2 percent from three-point range.
