DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Barry's volleyball team won its season opener in three sets over Missouri S&T Friday at Embry-Riddle's Bahama House Classic. The Buccaneers beat the Miners, 25-19, 27-25, 25-20.

SUMMARY:
- Barry hit an impressive .263, which included a whopping .448 attack percentage in the third set.
- The Bucs had 13 kills and no hitting errors in the final set.

- In the opening set, the Bucs broke a 15-15 tie when Kristina Filimonova had three straight kills. Johanna Voss banged down a kill to make it, 21-17. Genesis Castillo added a kill, and Brittany Reynolds and Stassy Samokhvalova had a combo block to close the set.
- Barry trailed 23-21 in the second set, but rattled off three straight points, including a kill by Voss to take a 24-22 lead. Filimonova had a kill and an ace to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead in the match.
- In the final set, Castillo and Reynolds eached banged down a kill on a setup from Nathaly Alvarez to give the Buccaneers a 17-13 lead. The Miners pulled within one, but Barry pushed its lead back to 21-16 on a kill by Filimonova. Missouri S&T drew within one again, but Barry went on a 4-0 run to close it out on an ace by Reynolds and kills by Filimonova, Voss and Jaeda Allen.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Filimonova had 13 kills and no errors for a .464 attack percentage. She also had three blocks and seven digs.
- Sophomore setter Juliana Tirabassi had 22 assists and 13 digs.
- Castillo had eight kills and four blocks.
- Voss had eight kills and no errors for a .727 attack rate.
- Allen finished with nine kills and 16 digs.
