Men's Tennis Captures SSC Regular Season Crown

No. 2 Barry beats No. 8 Lynn in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Barry University 26-year men's tennis coach George Samuel is into winning championships. After all, he has won a bunch in his time at the tiny Miami Shores school.

Sunday, he won his 30th overall title with the men's program as the second-ranked Buccaneers beat No. 8 Lynn on the road for the Sunshine State Conference regular season championship.

"It's as good as every single year," Samuel said. "It lets us know where we stand going into the conference tournament. The guys fought hard, every one of them. They put out a lot of good effort.

"Lynn's not one to be taken lightly. It's always nice to beat Lynn University because they are always competitive with us every time they play us. We're rivals, and we need that in this league."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"As much as this is the regular season title, which I'm grateful for, when you're in the tournament, it's different. I'm happy to have won it, and the team is happy to beat every team in the conference, but when you get to the conference tournament, it's just different."
