Baseball Drops Series Opener To Rollins 10-9

Both teams battled into the 11th!

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Baseball opened the weekend series with a loss to Rollins, losing 10-9 Friday night in extra innings.

SUMMARY:

  • T1: Justin Lamazares batted in Ryan Baldwin with a single to center field to start the Bucs off to a 1-0 lead.
  • T2: Jonathan Quintana homered in the second to increase the Buc's to two runs.
  • B5: The Tars grabbed the lead the bottom of the fifth, scoring four runs to make it 4-2.
  • T6: Lamazares came back in the sixth to trim Rollin's lead to one run, as he homered to left center.
  • T7: Alexis Monge-Rodriguez tied the game with a single up the middle, knocking in Michael Escarra, making it 4-4.
  • B7: Grant Ashline grounded out to second to bring in the go-ahead run from third.
  • T9: The Bucs took the 6-5 lead in the fifth, scoring two runs as a result of crucial errors by the Tar defense.
  • B9: Nick Breen batted in Brian Brooker in the ninth to tie the game up at 6-6 to bring the game into extra innings.
  • T10: Andrew Rapoza doubled to left center scoring Khalil Denson and Quintana to take the 8-6 lead. Shortly after, Rapoza scored from third on a passed ball.
  • B10: Rollins tied the game again in the tenth, extending the game to the eleventh inning.
  • B11: Mike Dolan homered in the eleventh to take game one of the series for the Tars.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Brett Scafidi (1-1) grabbed tonight's win for the Tars, giving up just two hits on the night.
  • Erik Bauer (2-1) took tonight's loss for the Bucs, giving up one hit and one run.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry continues their conference series tomorrow with the Tars in Alfond Stadium with a doubleheader starting a 1 pm.
