Softball Splits Final Day At CSU Classic

Head goes 4-for-4 in game 1

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- The Barry Buccaneers split a pair of games at the CSU Softball Classic on Sunday. They knocked off Catawba 6-1, but fell 6-3 to Coker.

SUMMARY:
GAME ONE:

  • T-st - Cheyanne Head led off with a double and scored on a base hit by Lynsey Duncan for a 1-0 lead.
  • T-3rd - Kristina Osorio belted a three-run homer to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • T-4th - Head singled and stole second. Duncan again came up with the RBI single.
  • B-6th - Taylor Martin led off with a double and scored on an error to trim the lead to 5-1.
  • T-7th - Duncan walked and scored on a single by Osorio.

GAME TWO:

  • T-1st - Alayna Gallagher singled and scored on a squeeze bunt by Jasmine Harris. Harris scored on an error for a 2-0 lead.
  • B-3rd - Maria Williamson drove in Anna Gluhosky to cut the lead to 2-1.
  • T-4th - Madison VonHagel singled and scored when the Cobras' catcher threw the ball into the outfield on a steal by Hunter Mars.
  • B-5th - Williamson had an RBI double and Hannah Price drove in two with a single as the Cobras took a 4-3 lead.
  • B-6th - The Cobras scored twice on squeeze plays to make it 6-3.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Anieliese Palmeiro (1-2) scattered six hits and five walks, allowing just one unearned run, to pick up her first win of the season.
  • Christie Falcon (1-6) was tagged for the loss against Coker for the second straight day. She allowed four runs on five hits and three walks in 4.2 innings.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs visit the West Florida Argonauts on Tuesday, Mar. 7 in Pensacola, Fla.
