Softball Drops Pair At CSU Classic

Head and Rawls both hit .429 on the day

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- The Barry Buccaneers dropped their first-ever meetings with Auburn-Montgomery and Coker on Saturday at the CSU Classic in Columbus, Ga. The Bucs (6-11) lost to the Warhawks 6-3 and the Cobras 1-0.

SUMMARY:
GAME ONE:

  • B-2nd - Pitcher Rachel Ragland had an RBI double to give AUM a 1-0 lead.
  • T-4th - Jasmine Harris ripped a two-run single up the middle, scoring Sam Busekrus and Cheyanne Head for a 2-1 Barry lead.
  • B-5th - Jaycie Walker drilled a two-our, three-run homer to lift the Warhawks to a 4-2 lead.
  • B-6th - Amy Persinger had an RBI single and Kaylin Finch scored on an error to extend the lead to 6-2.
  • T-7th - Harris drove in Head again with a ground out to trim the lead to 6-3.

GAME TWO:

  • T-4th - Tayler Barcomb singled through the left side to score Mindy North, who had reached on a error, for the only run of the game.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Anieliese Palmeiro (0-2) took the loss in game one for the Bucs.
  • Christie Falcon (1-5), who set down the first 10 Cobras in order, finished with a four-hitter and five strikeouts, but took the loss.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs conclude the tournament on Sunday facing Catawba in the morning and a rematch with Coker in the afternoon.
