Baseball Drops First Game Of The Weekend To PBA

Inclement weather held up for the first game, but not the second

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry baseball dropped the first match in Saturday's doubleheader against PBA 3-9. Rain wouldn't allow the second game to finish, but it will be resumed at 12 noon on Sunday.

SUMMARY:

  • T1: Kyle Simon homered to left center in the first, scoring two RBI.
  • B3: Julian Abreu batted in Anthony Rondon from third to trim PBA's lead to one run. Khalil Denson then singled up the middle to score Alexis Monge-Rodriguez to even the game at 2-2.
  • B5: Rondon took the 3-2 lead for the Bucs after scoring on a throwing error by the Sailfish center fielder.
  • T7: PBA regained the lead in the seventh after they knocked in another three runs. Evan Dougherty and Noah Johnson each had RBI singles.
  • T8: Andrew Calderone singled in the eighth to score Simon from third.
  • T9: Peter Rivera wrapped it up for the Sailfish with a two-RBI double to left field to make the score 9-3 PBA.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jonathan Hernandez (1-5) took the loss for the Bucs, giving up seven hits and six runs.
  • Josh Turner (2-1) grabbed he win for the Sailfish, after giving up five hits and three runs through six innings.
  • Kyle Polaski (1) came in to get the save for PBA, giving up just one hit in the final three innings.

ON THE HORIZON:

  • Game two of the doubleheader was stopped due to rain, and will be resumed tomorrow on Sunday at 12 noon. PBA currently leads the second game 3-0.
  • Once game two finishes, game three will commence after a quick break in between games.
