GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Barry Buccaneers dropped a tough loss to the #1-ranked and defending national champions, North Alabama, 8-3 at the Gulf Coast Invitational on Friday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

SUMMARY:

• B-2nd -- North Alabama struck for six runs on six hits in the second inning. Bailey Nelson had a two-run single and Hannah Shollenberger launched a three-run homer.
• B-3rd -- The Lions tacked on two more in the third. Nelson had another RBI single.
• T-4th -- The Bucs got two runs back in the fourth. Lynsey Duncan walked and scored ahead of a bases-loaded walk by Cheyanne Head. Kristina Osorio had an RBI single.
• T-6th -- Head scored ahead of another Osorio single in the sixth. 

NOTEWORTHY:

• Raven Cole (1-0) worked five innings to earn the win for the Lions.
• Anieliese Palmeiro (0-1) took the loss for Barry.
