Baseball Takes Game One Of The Three-Game Series Agianst Pfeiffer

Back and fourth action in the second half of the game, but the Bucs prevail!

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers scored late in the game to come out on top against Pfeiffer University 4-3, in game one of the three-game series.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"We didn't play our best, but it's good to see that our boys can come back and win a ball game," volunteer assistant coach Julio Mendoza said.

SUMMARY:

  • B4: Alffredi Ramos doubled to right-center to drive in Claudio Rubiera to take the 1-0 lead over Pfeiffer.
  • B5: Alexis Monge-Rodriguez got involved in a pick off play that allowed Andrew Rapoza to score from third to take the two-run lead.
  • T6: Zach Scudder grounded into a 4-6-3 double play, while Derek Perry advanced from third to score to trim Barry's lead to one run.
  • T7: John Elwood singled up the middle in the seventh inning to score Brandall Peters and Xavier Rodriguez.
  • B8: Barry rallied back in the eighth to score two runs to take the one run lead. Ryan Baldwin doubled down the right field line to score Monge. Soon after, Ramos came back to single to right field with bases loaded to score Juan Sebastian Dayoub from third base.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Lance Elder (1-0) took the win for the Bucs, striking out four of the 10 batters he faced, as well as only giving up one hit.
  • Drew Wilson (0-1) was dealt the loss for the Falcons, after giving up three hits and two runs in one inning.
  • Alex Lavandero had nine strikeouts through 24 batters, and gave up just three hits and one run.
  • Baldwin went 2-4 on the night, with a RBI, double, and stolen base.
  • Rapoza, just a few games into his collegiate career for the Bucs, had a hit, one run, and stolen base on the night.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs continue the three-game series against Pfeiffer Saturday night at 6 pm on Feinbloom Field.
