MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers escaped with a 73-69 overtime win over the Benedict Tigers in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday in women's basketball action.
The Bucs tied the game on a layup by Stephane Granada and then rode a hot hand from Barbara Cousiño in the overtime to the win.

- 1Q - The Bucs bolted hard out of the gate and led 7-0 after a Kiara Palmer free throw with 7:17 left. But the Tigers clawed back and cut the lead to one, 9-8 on three free throws by JaBree Jones. The two teams combined to shoot just 17.8 percent from the floor (5-of-28). | Barry 9, Benedict 8

- 3Q - Benedict extended their lead to eight points to start the third period, on three-pointers by Raven Baker and Ayanna Armstead. Barry slowly climbed back in, knotting the game 38-38 on free throws by Palmer with 0:49 left. After a stop, Barbara Cousiño gave the Bucs a lead with layup, 40-38. - 4Q - There were five ties in the fourth quarter as neither team could break away. Benedict led 59-57 with less than a minute, but Cousiño and Stephane Granada went two-for-one in layups with the Tigers to forcer overtime at 61-61. | Barry 61, Benedict 61
- 1OT - The Bucs finally got control in the overtime period thanks to some timely shooting from Cousiño, who scored seven points in the period. Tied 65-65, Elin Ekdahl hit a three-pointer and Cousiño assisted on a layup by Palmer, then hit one of her own and added the free throw for a three-point play to give Barry a 73-67 lead with );27 seconds left. | Barry 73, Benedict 69
NOTEWORTHY:
- Palmer narrowly missed a triple-double with 15 points, 16 rebounds and nine blocked shots. The nine blocks are tied for second all-time with Alex Zamora who had nine against Lynn in 2012.
- Cousiño had 14 points, seven coming in overtime. Ida Andersson added 12.
- Shannon Owens came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 18 points. Baker had 16, Jones 11 and Armstead 12.
