MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry swept Nova Southeastern in a Sunshine State Conference volleyball match Tuesday, 29-27, 25-14, 25-21.
It moved the Buccaneers within a game of .500 overall with four remaining this season. Barry's final homestand is Nov. 17-18 for back-to-back weekend matches at the Health & Sports Center.
The Bucs hit over .200 in all three sets, while holding the Sharks to .000 in the final two sets.

SUMMARY:
- The Buccaneers trailed 11-5 in the first set, but rallied to take a 13-11 lead on Genesis Castillo's serve during a 8-0 run. Nova Southeastern crept ahead 19-17 before BarryU pulled even at 22-22 on a kill by Kishara Gordon. But the two teams see-sawed back and forth for the next 10 serves to find themselves in a 27-27 deadlock. That's when Gabriela Jansen helped Barry put it away with a kill and a service point -- the latter on a putaway by Kristina Filimonova -- on the set's final two points to put the Bucs ahead 1-0.
- Barry hit .300 in the middle set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Bucs held the Sharks to six kills in that set, and NSU committed six errors. After getting behind early, the Buccaneers zipped out to a 10-6 lead following a 5-0 run on Filimonova's serve. Nova Southeastern cut it to two, but Barry padded its lead to 17-9 on a block by Jansen. Johanna Voss pounded a kill to put the Bucs up, 21-13. Filimonova added a solo block, and Nathaly Alvarez had an ace and a service point to close the set.Â
- The Bucs found themselves down again in the third set after the Sharks jumped out to a 12-5 lead. A kill by Jaeda Allen pulled Barry within 16-13. Castillo added a kill on Madison Yarborough's serve to tie it at 17-17. Stassy Samokhvalova's block one serve later gave the Bucs the lead. NSU pulled within 21-20 before Castillo converted a setup from Alvarez. Castillo then served two points, including an ace. After a sideout, Filimonova put the match away with a kill.
NOTEWORTHY:.
- Barry had 9.5 blocks, and Nova Southeastern 4. The Sharks had 10 aces, and Barry 7.
- Kishara Gordon had 10 kills, marking the fourth time she's reached double figures this season. She hit .364.
- Filimonova had nine kills, two aces and five blocks, while putting up a .471 attack rate.
- Allen had seven kills and an ace.
- Jansen finished with six kills, six digs and a solo block.
- Juliana Tirabassi had 32 assists and nine digs. She went over 500 assists for the season.
- Yarborough had 10 digs, marking the fourth straight match she's been in double figures.
- The Bucs swept their third opponent this season -- Nova Southeastern the victim twice.
