SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Barry's volleyball team dropped a four-set match at No. 24 Saint Leo Saturday, losing 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20.
Even with their backs against the wall, the Buccaneers kept battling, but came up short. The Buccaneers had three players with double-digit kills, but it wasn't enough in Barry's attempt to beat a ranked opponent.

SUMMARY:
- Nathaly Alvarez gave the Bucs a 15-10 lead in the first set when she ripped off an ace. Saint Leo went on an 8-0 run to take a three-point lead, but Kristina Filimonova had back-to-back kills as Barry responded with a 5-0 run of its own to take control. The Lions tied it again two serves later before Juliana Tirabassi triggered a 3-0 Bucs spurt with a kill and two assists. Kishara Gordon had the last two kills to put the Buccaneers ahead, 23-20. Jaeda Allen and Gordon finished off the set with kills.
- Barry hit .146 in the first set. Saint Leo hit .062.
- The Bucs led four serves into the second set when Johanna Voss banged down one of her 11 kills. But the Lions kept crawling ahead until they built an 18-13 lead. After Voss stopped Saint Leo's run with a kill to pull Barry within 18-14, the Lions scored the next four points, and the Bucs could not gain ground.
- Saint Leo hit .500 in the second set. Barry hit .265.
- The Lions opened up a 14-7 lead in the third before the Bucs pulled within 16-12 following three straight Saint Leo errors. The Bucs got within two twice -- the later on a kill by Gordon to make it 20-18. Saint Leo inched closer by scoring the next three points before Allen put down a kill and the Lions committed an error. After Ashley Quero's kill made it 24-20, the Bucs responded with kills by Filimonova and Allen to cut it to two. Saint Leo won the next point to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
- The Bucs had 10 kills and 13 errors in the third set. The Lions had 11 kills and 10 errors.
- Stassy Samokhvalova and Allen came up with a block as Barry pulled within 9-8 in the fourth set. The Lions went on a 9-1 run though to blow it wide open. Samokhvalova and Gordon joined forces for a block to cut it 22-16 as the Bucs kept battling. Samokhvalova and Filimonova had another block to make it 24-20, but the Lions closed it out one serve later.
- Barry hit .158 in the final set. Saint Leo hit .083.
- Saint Leo had 13 blocks. Barry had 11.
NOTEWORTHY:.
- Voss had 11 kills, hit .280 and had five assists and two blocks.
- Filimonova had 12 kills and six blocks.
- Allen had 11 kills and two blocks.
- Tirabassi had 35 assists for the second straight match. She also had 16 digs.
- Madison Yarborough and Genesis Castillo each had 12 digs.
