MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men's soccer team hosts the Tampa Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Buccaneer Field as the Bucs look to get into the Sunshine State Conference win column.
The Bucs offense has yet to gel this season, accounting for just three goals in six games. Sergio Yepes, Ivan Arenas and Aday Gonzalez have each tallied this season. The Bucs are tied for 10th in the conference with Embry-Riddle in scoring.
Defensively, however, the Bucs have been very good, ranking third in the league with a 1.05 goals against average. Individually, Marco Sordi is fifth in the conference with a 1.13 goals against average.
The Spartans are seventh in the league averaging 1.83 goals per game offensively, but just 10th defensively with a 2.46 goals against average. Senior forwards Felipe DeSousa and Bay Downing pace the Spartans' offense, with two goals each. Sophomore forward Juancho Fernandez has a team-best two assists. Defensively, sophomore keeper Jake Richards has done the majority of the work in goal, posting a 1.44 goals against average and a 2-1-1 record.
