Men's Soccer Topples Moccasins In Overtime

Miles Francis connected :21 seconds into last overtime

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry men's soccer team got a much-needed Sunshine State Conference win 1-0 over the Florida Southern Moccasins on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field as Miles Francis connected for the game-winner just 0:21 seconds into the final overtime period.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"I'm just so proud of these guys," Barry head coach Steve McCrath said. "The way that they've battled and worked to improve over the course of the season has been phenomenal." 

SUMMARY:

  • 100:21 - Jerrell Cato got the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and flipped it over to Marcos Nunez. Nunez slipped the ball outside to Francis who was racing in from the right wing. Francis slotted his shot just past FSC keeper Benny Yusufoglu toward the far post for the game's only goal.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Bucs dominated the stat sheet, out-shooting the Mocs 21-5, including 10-1 on goal. They had 11 corners to just one for the Mocs. 
  • Bo Haug picked up the win on Senior Night, making one save and working his second straight clean sheet.
  • Yusufoglu kept FSC in the match beyond all hope, making nine saves, many of them from point-blank range.
  • The Bucs have now won four in a row and five of their last six. They have allowed just two goals, while scoring 10 in six games.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Eckerd. The match was rescheduled from Sept. 12 due to Hurricane Irma.
