MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers blanked the Saint Leo Lions 2-0 at Buccaneer Field on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference women's soccer action.

SUMMARY:

  • 33:01 - Christy Grimshaw took the ball off of a Saint Leo throw in and walked all the way in on keeper Megan Charlton, beating her to the far post.
  • 83:24 - After a corner from Carissa Sanchez, Megan Stow blasted a shot over Charlton's head for an insurance goal.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Melanie Ziegner picked up her sixth shutout, though she did not face a shot on goal. The junior keeper is now 7-2-2 on the season.
  • Charlton took the loss, despite making eight saves.
  • The Bucs out-shot the Lions 10-1 in the first half and 11-1 in the second. 
  • In the first half, Barry took seven corners to none for the Lions. In the second half, SLU held a 5-4 edge.
  • Saint Leo's Victoria Covas and Lindsey Perkins were issued red cards for fighting after the conclusion of the game.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry will travel to Polk County on Wednesday to face the Florida Southern Moccasins.
