FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers sunk the No. 7-ranked Sharks of Nova Southeastern Thursday night 3-1, improving their overall record to 6-2-2. This non-conference match was rescheduled from earlier in the season, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

SUMMARY:
1st Half
- In the 15th minute, Nova's Bailey Corbin scored the first goal of the match to give the Sharks the 1-0 lead. She was assisted by Monica Orteu.
- Each team took five shots in the first half.
2nd Half
- Barry's Christy Grimshaw evened the score on a set piece. in the 49th minute.
- Carissa Sanchez took the 2-1 lead for the Bucs, scoring in the 52nd minute off of a cross from Molly Sharpe from the left side of the box.
- Sanchez came back in the 64th minute, sending a ball across the front of the box to find the feet of Amanda Traynor, who buried the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-1 Bucs.Â
- Barry outshot the Sharks 12-3 in the second half.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Melanie Ziegner grabbed the win for the Bucs, making two saves and allowing one goal.
- Nova's Jordan Lentz was dealt the loss on the night, allowing three goals and making five saves.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs return to conference play Saturday, as they host the Saint Leo Lions on Buccaneer Field at 6 p.m.
