HOOVER, Ala. -- Barry University's volleyball team dropped its final match at the South Region Crossover Saturday, losing to North Alabama, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20, at the Finley Center.
The Buccaneers went 2-1 at the Gulf South Conference-Sunshine State Conference midseason challenge. But its three-match win streak came to an end to a hot team that had already beaten the No. 19-ranked team in the country a day earlier. Now the Bucs will resume SSC play next weekend in a pair of road matches.

SUMMARY:
- Barry hit .074 with 25 kills and 18 attack errors. North Alabama hit .175 with 42 kills and 21 errors. The Buccaneers had six blocks, while the Lions had four. UNA had nine aces, and Barry had one.
- North Alabama led 19-16 in the first set before the Bucs responded with three straight points. Johanna Voss' kill squared it at 20-20, but the Lions ran off the final five points to take a lead in the match. The opening set had 11 ties and three lead changes. Barry's last lead came on a Kristina Filimonova kill to put the Bucs ahead 14-13.
- Barry never led in the second set, managing to tie it up twice -- on a kill by Jaeda Allen eight serves into the middle set and a service point by Maegan Cuesta, which made it 7-7. But the Lions built an 18-11 lead, and Barry managed just three points the rest of the set. The Buccaneers had eight kills and four errors in the set, while the Lions had 15 putaways and six errors.
- Genesis Castillo served two straight points to put the Bucs ahead 11-9 in the third set. Filimonova and Allen combined on a block to give Barry the two-point lead. But UNA scored the next three points, and the Bucs found themselves playing catchup the rest of the way.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Allen led Barry with eight kills, two blocks and the lone ace.
- Kishara Gordon had seven kills and three blocks.
- Voss had three kills, hit .600 and had two blocks.
- Juliana Tirabassi had 11 assists and 11 digs.
- Brooke Freckleton recorded her first kill as a Buccaneer. It was Barry's final point of the second set.
- The Bucs fell to 2-3 in three-set matches.
