MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – On a day Barry's student-athletes were charged up for their 10th-ranked men's basketball team, the boys in white delivered.
The Buccaneers beat Eckerd to give themselves a two-game cushion in the Sunshine State Conference, following Saturday's 84-72 win in the Health & Sports Center
Barry maintained a two-and-a-half-game lead over Eckerd for first place in the Sunshine State Conference after Saturday's victory in front of 914 in the Health & Sports Center. The Buccaneers are in the midst of a three-game win streak, and spend the next four games in South Florida.

SUMMARY:
- Elvar Fridriksson scored a career-high 30 points, including 17 in the first half on 7-for-9 shooting.
- The Buccaneers turned a one-point lead into a 50-37 advantage, using a 14-2 run that culminated on Adrian Gonzalez's free throw at the 14:34 mark of the second half. Fridriksson had six points during the stretch.
- The Tritons cut it to three on a 3-pointer by Matt Beneduci with 11:52 to play. Obi Kyei scored at the 10:44 mark to keep Eckerd within three, but the Bucs went on a 20-4 run to extend the lead back to 16 on a free throw by Evan Walshe with 4:59 to go.
- Eckerd cut it to eight on a triple by Trevon Young with 51 seconds to go, but Fridriksson and Daniel Mortensen each sank a pair of free throws down the stretch to seal it for the Bucs.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The Buccaneers did not attempt a free throw in the first half. They went 16 of 19 from the stripe in the second half.
- Fridriksson's 30 points marked the fifth time a Buccaneer has reached that total this season.
- Gonzalez moved past Nick Perez for fourth place on the school's all-time scoring list.
- Barry has swept the regular season series from Eckerd twice in the last three years. In both times, it took double overtime wins in St. Petersburg to give the Bucs the sweep.
