KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Barry University men's soccer team jumped from being unranked to being ranked No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for NCAA Division II.
The Bucs have won three straight now to improve to 3-0-0 on the season. The men's team haven't won three games in a row to start the season since 2011, when they ended up winning seven in a row to start the season.
The team finished with an overall record of 8-4-3 last season, but look to change that this year.
Barry's offense, led by senior Thomas Coombes and junior Hanno Antoni, has been on fire to start the 2016 season. Coombes recorded four goals during his three-game scoring streak, tying for second in the conference for goals on the season. Antoni has three goals on the season thus far, scoring a brace in the 4-2 win over North Georgia on Sept. 1st and adding a goal to the 5-4 win against Clayton on Sept. 3rd. Antoni is tied for fourth in the conference for goals on the season.
Barry seemed to have no trouble finding the back of the net as players Nyle Patel, Frank Lustig, Ivan Arenas, and Francisco Aguirre have also tallied goals during the first three matches thus far.
The Bucs host their first home game of the 2016 season against St. Thomas Saturday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. Come out and support your Bucs and we encourage you to use the hashtag #GoBarryBucs.
