Men's Soccer Improves To 3-0 On The Road With Victory Over Lions

3's the magic number

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Buc's men's soccer team continued their winning streak on the road, as they beat the Lions of Emmanuel College 3-1 Monday afternoon.

The Lions struck first in the 22nd minute with a goal from Danny Cameron. Cameron was assisted by Emmanuel midfielder, Blair Springhall.

Buc's midfielder, Frank Lustig, knotted the match at 1-1 with his first goal of the season off of a corner kick piece in the 35th minute. Patrick Borchert, the kick taker, serviced the ball into the box about five yards from goal, and Lustig chested the ball into the net.

Thomas Coombes had a chance to take the lead for the Bucs, but his shot just missed by hitting the crossbar. The score remained 1-1 as the first half came to an end.

Coombes however, made up for his missed shot with a goal just 10 minutes into the second half after a failed defensive clearance from a set piece. He took a touch on the ball, did a complete 180 degree turn with his body, and struck the ball into the net to take the lead 2-1. Coombes is now on a three-game scoring streak.

Barry midfielder, Nyle Patel, put away the Lions in the 70th minute with his second goal of the season. Borchert served a driven ball from about 35 yards out towards the 16 yard line, where Patel redirected the path of the ball to cruise right past the keeper.

Michael Scheraldi saved one of four shots on goal to pick up his second win on the season for the Bucs. Andy Dunnett took the loss for the Lions, making zero saves on the day.

The Bucs will be back on the pitch Saturday Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m., as they host St. Thomas in their first home game of the season.
