#11 Men's Soccer Opens Conference Play At #2 Lynn

Game features top two scorers in the league

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The biggest matchup of the 2016 season so far will take place Wednesday Sept. 21 at Bobby Campbell Stadium at 6 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla., as the 11th-ranked Bucs visit the No. 2 Fighting Knights.

The matchup includes both of the top two scorers in the conference: Barry's Thomas Coombes, who has seven goals, and Lynn's Jack Watson, who is just ahead with eight goals, despite playing two more games than Barry.

Watson has played a big role in Lynn's impressive start to the season as he has six game-winning goals. Coombes has just three game-winning goals, but his 1.400 goals-per-game average stands atop the conference leaderboard. Coombes also has the league's highest points-per-game average, averaging 3.0 points per match, while Watson averages 2.57 points per match.

The Knights (6-0-1, 1-0-1 SSC) hold a 23-21 edge in goals over the Bucs, and lead the conference in points with 66.

The Bucs (5-0-0, 0-0-0 SSC), who have yet to play a conference match, have had a great start to the 2016 season thus far. Scoring hasn't seemed to be an issue for the Buccaneers as they have complied an impressive 4.200 goal-scoring average, which sits atop the conference leaderboard.

The biggest challenge for the Bucs in this match is to keep the ball out of their own net. Barry has allowed the most goals this season with 11, and Lynn has the lowest average of goals allowed in the conference at 0.57 goals per game. However, the Bucs can score to make up the deficit, as they've proven to do so with four out of their five wins being come-from-behind wins.

Both teams are looking for a win as each side is 1-1-1 in their last three matchups against each other. To catch the action, be sure to follow the links below:
