MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The 12th-ranked Barry Buccaneers were even with the top-ranked Columbus State Cougars when the rains came and washed out the contest on Sunday at Buccaneer Field.
The Bucs (1-0-1) held a 4-2 edge in shots, including 3-0 on goal, but neither team could find the back of the net. The last 15 minutes of play came in a driving rainstorm, before lightning drove the players from the pitch. The heavy rains, which also visited during warmups, left the field unsafe to continue play.
No make up for the game is scheduled due to travel difficulties. The Bucs next take the field on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla., as they begin defense of their Sunshine State Conference title for the third time.
