SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Barry baseball earned its first Friday night win in three weeks as it defeated Saint Leo, 12-8.

The game was a slugfest as the both teams scored in the first three innings, but Barry continued the scoring into the 4
th, tying the game at 8.

The run streak saw RBI from
Frank Gonzalez,
Jonathan Quintana (a home run to left field),
Alexander DeGoti (a home run to right field),
Julian Abreu,
Mike Diaz and
Ryan Baldwin.

The Bucs separated themselves from the Lions in the 6
th, scoring three runs thanks to a
Ramon Valdez double that brought in DeGoti, Valdez scoring himself on a throwing error and Baldwin hitting his 10
th home run of the season to center field.

The Bucs extended their lead in the 9
th with an Alfreddi Ramos sacrifice fly to left field that brought in Quintana.

The Lions were stopped cold by Barry after the 3
rd, going scoreless in the last six innings.

Alex Lavandero earned the win to go 5-3 on the season in a 10 strikeout complete game, his first of the year and the third of the season for the Bucs. SLU reliever Andrew Cohen got the loss in a 6.0 IP, six strikeout effort.

Barry improves to 20-18 on the season and 4-10 in conference play. Saint Leo now stands at 22-16 this year and 5-8 in the SSC.

The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader slated to begin at 1 PM.
