Baseball Sweeps Series Versus AIC

Bucs win two games to sweep Yellow Jackets

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry baseball concluded a perfect week with a doubleheader sweep of American International College 11-6, 4-3.

The Buccaneers were dominant in today's first game, scoring 11 runs off 15 hits from 11 different batters.

Barry scored seven runs in the first three innings with RBI from Jonathan Quintana, Frank Gonzalez, Alexander DeGoti, Ramon Valdez and Alexis Monge.

AIC kept it close scoring six runs in their first four innings but in bottom of the 8th, the Bucs would leave no doubt as Alffredi Ramos hit a 2-run single up the middle that brought Carlos Matamoros and Ryan Baldwin home, and DeGoti singled to bring in Julian Abreu to make it a 11-6 ballgame.

Luis Deville got the win to improve his record to 4-0 in a 8.0 IP, three strikeout effort. AIC starter Brian Karp went to 0-1 in 7.1 IP, allowing nine runs.

The doubleheader's second game was also a tight affair as AIC homered in the top of the 1st, putting Barry in an early hole.

The Bucs would answer with a Frank Gonzalez RBI in the 2nd to tie it up.

In the 4th, Valdez slammed a solo homer to right field and Gonzalez got another RBI in a sacrifice hit that brought in Quintana.

The Yellow Jackets would tie it up at three in the 6th with a two-run homer by Alex LaFayette.

The Bucs would end the night and the week on a booming note however, as on his first pitch at the plate, Ryan Baldwin hit a walk-off home run to left field to give Barry the win and the sweep.

Bucs starter Daniel Broeseker improve to 2-0 on the year in a 7.0 IP, eight strikeout appearance. AIC starter Nick Kennedy went to 0-1 in a 6.0 IP, two strikeout night.

The Bucs improve to 14-6 on the year while AIC is now 0-3.
