Baseball Defeats Embry-Riddle

Crucial runs in the consecutive innings lead to Bucs win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry baseball continued its winning streak tonight, defeating Embry-Riddle, 14-5.

The Buccaneers got started early, scoring three runs in the 1st through a Khalil Denson RBI single, a Ramon Valdez RBI double and a Jonathan Quintana sacrifice fly RBI.

Embry-Riddle would make a tie game with three runs in the top of the 2nd, but in the bottom of the inning, the Bucs would take the lead back with RBI from Valdez and Alexander DeGoti.

In the top of the 3rd, ERAU would add another run but Barry would put the game with seven runs from the 4th to the 7th innings.  DeGoti had three RBI from a single and his eighth home run of the year during that span.

The Eagles would add another run in the top of the 7th but so would the Bucs as Valdez added another two RBI to his impressive night with a single to left field.

Bucs starter Alexander Lavandero improved to 3-0 on the year with a 6.0 IP, three strikeout effort. ERAU starter Nick Dearing went to 3-1 in a 3.2 IP night.

The Bucs improve to 15-6 while Embry-Riddle now sits at 14-7.

The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader that is slated to begin at 1 PM.
