WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Barry baseball dropped its opening game against Palm Beach Atlantic, 7-4.
The Buccaneers started off strong, scoring two runs in the first off an
Alexander DeGoti RBI single up the middle that brought in
Khalil Denson, with DeGoti scoring later in the inning due to a fielding error.
The Sailfish gained the lead in the bottom of the inning but the Bucs answer edin the second thanks to a pitching error that allowed
Alffredi Ramos to cross home plate to tie the game up at three.
Barry tied it up again in the fifth after PBA went up a run again, this time due to a
Ramon Valdez RBI single down the left field line.
However, the Bucs couldn't conjure up any more scores and fell to PBA in nine innings.
PBA reliever David Paul improves to 5-0 on the year in a three strikeout, 3.1 IP performance, while Barry reliever
Armando Gonzalez goes to 0-2 on the season with a 4.2 IP, three strikeout outing.
The Bucs now stand at 16-12 on the season while PBA improves to 17-12.
The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader slated to start at 12 PM.
