Bucs fall to 21st-ranked Mocs 69-51

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers fell 69-51 to the 21st-ranked Florida Southern Lady Mocs in Jenkins Field House on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action.

  • 1Q - Though the Mocs took a 3-2 lead they would never relinquish just :50 seconds into the game, the Bucs hung tough in the first quarter. Led by Lauren Seyranian's six points on 3-for-3 shooting, the Bucs trailed just by just three at the first break. | FSC 17, BarryU 14
  • 2Q - The Bucs' second quarter shooting woes cropped again tonight. Barry hit just 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) from the floor in the second period as FSC built a 40-25 halftime advantage. | FSC 40, BarryU 25

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Mocs barely out-shot the Bucs from the floor, 37.5 percent to 34.9 percent, but hoisted 29 more shots, thanks to a 50-29 edge on the boards, including 24-5 on the offensive end, and an 8-14 edge in turnovers. The Mocs out-scored the Bucs on second-chance points 26-3.
  • Seyranian led the Bucs with 11 points, while Ekdahl and Juhnae Richardson each had 10 points.
  • Anja Fuchs-Robetin led Florida Southern with 19 points. Gianna Vastola had 10 points, while Daniela Thomas had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
