MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's eighth-ranked men's basketball team hosts the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday at the Health & Sports Center.

The Buccaneers (3-0) will meet Shaw (3-0) at 7 p.m. Friday and Florida National (2-6) at 6 p.m. Saturday. Young Harris (3-2) is also in the field, and will play the Bucs' opponents at 5 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday. Both men's games follow a 2 p.m. tip-off both days in the women's field, which features Barry, Central Missouri and Johnson & Wales.

All games can be seen on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network.

The tournament was named after longtime coach Cesar Odio two years ago. Odio, Barry's 17-year head coach who went 268-220, passed away in the summer after his third battle with leukemia. He was named Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year in 1994-95 and 2006-07. Odio guided the Bucs to three NCAA Tournaments in 2004-05, 2006-07 and 2009-10. His 2002-03 team was the top defensive team in NCAA Division II.

Barry is 13-5 all time in the Thanksgiving tournament, including a 2-0 mark since it was renamed the Odio Classic.

The Bucs pulled out an eight-point win at Shaw last year. This year the Bears are off to a great start, and are outscoring opponents by an average of 14 points per game. Larry Richardson is averaging 22.7 points, David Madol 12.7 points and 9.7 rebounds, Russel Robinson 10.3 points and 8.3 boards and DeAaron Ward 10 points and 11.7 rebounds. The Bears are grabbing a whopping 54 rebounds per game, and outrebounding their opponents by 11 per game.

Florida National suffered a 112-66 loss at Division I North Florida on ESPN3 Tuesday night. Jermohn Queen, Terence Johnson and Aaron Carpenter are all capable double figure scorers. Former Buccaneer Alvaro Simoza is in his final year with the Conquistadors. Barry beat FNU by 24 last season in the HSC.

Young Harris is coming off its second loss of the season, 68-60, at Tampa Tuesday. C.J. Wilson is scoring 20.4 points per game. Ben Waterhouse is averaging 14.2 points and shooting 90 percent from the free throw line. Marcellus Roberts is averaging 13 points and 6.2 rebounds.

TIP-INS: Fans who donate food and supplies for the people of Haiti at Friday's and Saturday's games will be entered into a raffle for Universal Orlando tickets. The raffle will be held during the Nov. 30 game versus Nova Southeastern.
