Volleyball Wins in 5 at Embry-Riddle

Bucs finish season at Rollins Saturday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Barry's volleyball team overcame a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets in a five-set victory at Embry-Riddle Friday night. The Buccaneers won, 23-25, 25-17, 25-27, 25-23, 15-10.

Barry (16-13) is one win away from matching the most under coach Steve Hendricks. His teams have won 17 matches twice under his tenure.

The Bucs hit .260, while the Eagles (14-15) had a .121 attack percentage. The Bucs hit .306 in the first set and .400 in the final set. Embry-Riddle hit under .155 in four of the five sets.

Barry's Jaeda Allen pounded 25 kills to reach 400 for the season. She is the first player since Julia Teixeira in 2010 to eclipse 400. She needs four kills in Saturday's match at Rollins to surpass Teixeira among the school's single-season leaders. Allen also had 22 digs in a match she hit .349.

Kristina Filimonova had 13 kills and hit .417 to maintain her perch at the top of the Sunshine State Conference in terms of attack leaders. Brittany Reynolds banged down 15 kills to match a season high. Ivana Didanovic had 10 kills and nine blocks. Jenny Trinidad had 34 assists and 10 digs, and Juliana Tirabassi 24 assists.

Amanda Saunders had 15 kills, and Asya Oguz 11 for the Eagles.

Barry is ranked No. 10 in the South Region. The top eight teams in each region qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
