The Buccaneers (1-1) split a pair of games against Gulf South Conference competition at the NSU Tip-off Classic, falling 98-64 to Union (Tenn.), but bouncing back for a 52-47 win over Delta State. The Knights (2-0) won twice at the PBA Tip-Off Classic, beating provision member Auburn-Montgomery 80-71 and Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 88-40.
The Bucs, with eight new players on the roster, are led by transfers Kiara Palmer and Lauren Seyranian. Palmer leads the team at 19.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Seyranian chips in 17.5 points and is shooting 61.5 percent from three-point range.
The Knights have four players averaging double figures, led by Megan Shanahan at 16.0 points per game.
