Bucs trying to build off Saturday's win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team knows the road ahead. It starts with Tuesday's 7 p.m. match at Nova Southeastern.

The Buccaneers (9-8, 2-3 Sunshine State Conference) need a big second half of the season. The Sharks (10-8, 2-3) have been playing good volleyball of late. They went 2-1 at the South Region Crossover this weekend. Barry snapped a four-match losing streak in Saturday's win over West Alabama.

The Bucs and Sharks battled through five sets in the first meeting this year in Miami Shores. Barry is in search of its first win at Nova in four years. The Sharks are the top defensive team in the league, averaging 16.42 digs per set.

Former Buccaneer Tashalyn Begon leads the Sharks with a .248 hitting percentage. She had seven kills in three sets the first time the two teams met.

Barry sophomore libero Kat Espinosa had 31 digs against North Alabama at the South Region Crossover. She moved into the top 10 in the SSC. Freshman hitter Brittany Reynolds gave the Bucs a lift Saturday, banging six kills and picking up four digs in the front row in Barry's win over West Alabama.

The Bucs return home 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday to host Rollins and Embry-Riddle.
