Bucs' four-game win streak snapped

TAMPA, Fla.—The Tampa Spartans jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never trailed as they snapped the Barry Buccaneers' four-game win streak 70-52 on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action from the Martinez Center.

Despite turning the ball over only once in the first period, the Bucs (9-4, 3-2 SSC) hit just 3-of-18 from the field allowing the Spartans (7-7, 1-4 SSC) to build a 19-9 lead. Tampa pushed the lead to 21 in the second quarter, before taking a 33-20 lead into the half.

The lead reached 26, 46-20 as the Spartans opened the third period on a 13-0 run and Barry was unable to get closer than 15 the rest of the way.

Ines Kerin led the Bucs with 19 points and Amra Elezovic added 11. Elena De Alfredo led the Spartans with a game-high 20 points, while Ellen Nurmi added 18 and Karma Jeremie had 10.
