MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- After a marathon goal fest that ended in a draw that ended after two overtime periods Thursday night, Barry men's soccer returns to the field Saturday as they take on the Lions of Georgian Court.
In their first game of the year, the Buccaneers would take the lead three times only to see their advantage met each time by North Georgia. In Saturday's game, they'll be aiming to achieve their first win of the year.
The Bucs will rely on players such as forwards
Thomas Coombes and
Patrick Drmola, who both scored Thursday night, as well as goalkeeper
Bo Haug, who made three saves in his first game for Barry.
Georgian Court, out of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), will be looking to comeback from a 7-2 loss at the hands of Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday. In their first game of the season, forward Michael Clarke and midfielder Craig Smith scored their first goals of the season as the Lions attempted to comeback against PBA. Goalkeeper Sebastion Mikuska made six saves in 90 minutes of work.
Other threats for the Lions are defender Garrett McVeigh, who scored two goals and had six assists last season and defender Eddie Glover, who scored three goals and had one assist in 2014.
Achieving their first victory of the year will be a big step for the Bucs as they aim to return to the upper echelon of the Sunshine State Conference and of NCAA Division II.
The game is slated to kick off at 7 pm at Buccaneer Field.
