MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (24-7, 8-2 SSC) held on to the top spot in the Sunshine State Conference softball standings with a 1-0 shutout of 14th-ranked Rollins at Buccaneer Field on Saturday.
Alayna Gallagher drove in the only run of the game in the fifth inning. Megan Copeland, who had walked and stole second, scored the run.
Haley Wiseman (11-4) twirled a three-hit shutout past the Tars (28-5, 9-4 SSC). She walked two and struck out eight in tossing her second shutout of the season. The Tars came in as the top hitting team in the league with a .356 average.
Niki Fogel (21-5) took the loss for Rollins. She allowed one run on four hits and six walks and struck out three.
The series concludes with a doubleheader at noon on Sunday.
