MIAMI SHORES,FL—Going against a MLB pitching prospect did not scare or deter Barry baseball as they defeated conference rival Lynn, 8-1, Friday night.
The Buccaneers got 12 hits on the night on senior RHP Max Watt, who received his first loss of the season off of clutch performances like those of
Khalil Denson, who was a homerun away from hitting for the cycle as he went 3 for 4, getting a single, double and triple on the night.
Also clutch for the Bucs was
Kyle Pangallo, who doubled down the left field line to bring two runs home in the seventh inning and
Greg Brodzinski, who homered in the eighth to bring two more runs in.
Big hits may have gotten the runs the Bucs needed but an outstanding night out on the mound for LHP
Joeanthony Rivera gave the Bucs a great foundation to win on. Rivera was clutch on the night, striking out five and allowing four hits and no runs in his final six innings.
The Bucs' record improves to 14-10 on the year and 3-4 in the SSC, while Lynn now stands at 20-6 and 4-3 in the conference.
The series continues tomorrow as the teams face off in a doubleheader at Feinbloom Field starting at 1 p.m.
