MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers get back to women's basketball action on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Bowman Activities Center as they face the Saint Leo Lions in Sunshine State Conference action at 2:00 pm.
The Bucs (5-3, 1-1 SSC) had their four-game win streak snapped at Palm Beach Atlantic on Dec. 5 and will look to get back on the right side of the ledger against the Lions. The teams split their games last season, with both winning at home. Overall, Barry leads 40-17 in the series.
The Bucs top seven scorers are all seniors this season, led by forward Amra Elezovic. She is tops on the squad with 15.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and shoots 90.9 percent from the line. She is fourth in scoring, sixth in rebounding and tops in free throw percentage in the league.
Guards Jackie Perez and Ines Kerin chip in 10.4 and 10.1 points per game respectively. They rank second and first in three-point shooting at 44.9 and 46.3 percent. Perez is second (2.8) and Kerin is fourth (2.4) in made three pointers.
Irene Sanchez is second on the team in rebounding (5.4) and assists (3.5) while averaging 8.4 points per game.
The Lions (3-4, 1-3 SSC) are led by the guard duo of Chelsy Springs and Chachi Guzman. Springs leads the league at 20.6 points per game, while Guzman is third at 17.0 points per contest. Springs also leads the league in rebounding (9.7), while Guzman is tops in assists (5.9).
